Marcellus L. (Red) Robinson, 91, of Springdale died Jan. 19, 1995, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born Jan. 27, 1903, in Meridian, Texas, the son of William Riley Robinson and Mintie Ann Wood. He was retired as a construction pipe fitter and a U.S. Army veteran. He and his wife moved to the area from Ohio in 1956.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Robinson of the home; one son, Jon Robinson of Colcord, Okla.; two daughters, Ann Cherry of Colcord and Marsha Lee Babb of Maumelle; four sisters, Gladys Tabor of Oak Ridge, Ore., Effie Broderick of Grass Valley, Calif., Violet Brayfield of San Francisco, Calif., and Ruth Tindell of Carter, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; two grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Fairview Memorial Gardens at Fayetteville with the Rev. Ralph DuVere officiating. Arrangements are by Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Springdale.

Visitation will be today from 2 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

SILOAM SPRINGS — Margaret L. Robinson, 88, of Siloam Springs and formerly of Springdale, Ark., passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, in Siloam Springs, Ark. Mrs. Robinson was born May 12, 1922, in Liberal, Kan., to John Williams and Hazel Adams Williams.

After graduating from high school, she attended Jefferson Davis School of Nursing and graduated in 1934 as a registered nurse. On April 20, 1944, she joined the Army Nurses Corps. After V-J Day she spent most of her time in India, where she helped care for Japanese POWs. Margaret was discharged from service an Feb. 20, 1946; she then attended Margaret Hague Maternity Hospital in Newark, N.J., for a postgraduate course in maternity nursing.

After leaving NJU, she went to work at Harris Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, as a charge nurse on the maternity floor. During that time she married Marcellus (Red) Robinson on Dec. 19, 1948. She had three children from 1950-1954; in 1955 the family moved to Morrow, Ark., and after Red retired, they moved to Springdale, Ark. In 1960, Margaret started working at Washington Regional Medical Center as a supervisor. After nine years, in 1969 she joined the staff at the Vocational Technical School as an instructor of practical nursing, and was the for 18 years and then retired. After she retired, she did an independent course of study through Stephens College at Columbia, Mo., and earned a B.A. degree in health education. Mrs. Robinson was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church of Springdale, Ark.

Survivors include two daughters, Ann Cherry and husband Elzie of Colcord, Okla., Marsh Babb and husband Dale of McGuire, Texas; one son, John Robinson and wife, Carmelita, of the home; 11 grandchildren, Rebecca and Rachel Cherry, Joshua and Light Robinson, Michael and Aaron Bauer, Terry, Heather and Joshua Babb, Debbie Jones and Marianne Tyre; 13 great-grandchildren.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Marcellus; her parents; and a sister, Gracie Gutkowski and a brother, Robert Williams, both of Fort Worth, Texas.

Visitation for Mrs. Robinson will be held at the funeral home today, July 30, 2010, from 4 to 8 p.m.

A graveside service will be held at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville, Ark., on Saturday, July 31, 2010, at 10 a.m. The Rev. Isaac McBride will officiate the service under the direction of Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs, Ark.

Memorial maybe made to Myositis Assoc. of America, 1420 Huron Court, Harrisonburg, VA 22801.
