FAYETTEVILLE — Fred D. Hunt, 79, of Fayetteville died April 6, 1995, in a Fayetteville nursing home. He was born in Muskogee, Okla., to George and Myrtle Orr Hunt. He formerly owned Hunt's men's and women's stores in Fayetteville, Springdale and Rogers. He served on the Fayetteville City Council, was past president of the Kiwanis Club and had a perfect attendance of 51 years, and was a member of the First Baptist Church, serving as deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was also a farmer and donated a herd of pure-bred Chianina cattle to the University of Arkansas for research. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Third Army's 285th Corps of Engineers. He lived in Fort Smith and Helena before moving to Fayetteville in 1940.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine Hunt of the home, to whom he was married in Muskogee in 1935; two sons, Terry D. Hunt of Pierce City, Mo., and Larry G. Hunt of Fayetteville; one daughter, Marcia L. Brown of Fayetteville; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville with Dr. Jere D. Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8.p.m. at the funeral home, with the family receiving visitors from 6 to 7 p.m.
