Mary Frances Crosby Edmonston, 73, of Bella Vista died Aug. 8, 1992, at her home. She was born Aug. 14, 1918, in Topeka, Kan., to C.B. and Mary D. Daniels Crosby.
Mrs. Edmonston was a member of the Episcopal faith, graduated from Washburn College in Topeka in 1935. She was a member of the Kappa Theta Sorority. She married. William J. Edmonston in 1940.
She served on the board of the Topeka Junior League and was involved in volunteerism in many civic organizations and boards. She was active in the Girl Scouts of America for 35 years, serving as leader, council president, regional and national volunteer.
For 25 years, she and her husband owned and operated Kamaji, a private camp for girls in Cass Lake, Minn. She was president of Crosby Brothers Department Store in Topeka from 1957 to 1960.
Survivors include: a son, William J. Edmonston Jr. of Topeka; three daughters, Susan Weidling of Kansas City, Kan., and Jane Sewell and Nancy Jones, both of Topeka; a sister, Virginia Crosby Whittier of Carmel, Calif.; and 10 grandchildren.
A memorial service is set for 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Mildred B. Cooper Memorial Chapel in Bella Vista, with the Rev. Dwight Dussair. Memorials may be made to the Bella Vista Ambulance Service, Bella Vista Memorial Gardens, or a charity of the donor's choice.
Cremation was handled by Callison-Lough Funeral Service of Bentonville.
