Nov 4, 1944 - Feb 12, 2024
Sandra Whitney, 79, of Hindsville; passed away Monday, February 12, 2024, at Circle of Life Hospice, Springdale. She was born Saturday, November 4, 1944, in Tarvin, United Kingdom; to Toni Wyatt and Joy Rowland Jones.
Sandy was a mother to two children and an alterations manager for Nordstrom Department Store as a talented seamstress who could make anything from a wedding dress to a man's suit. She married Roger Whitney on May 25, 1987, at Lenexa, Kansas; and had lived in Arkansas her later years. Sandy adored spending time in her garden, meticulously tending to it and eventually winning an award for green thumb. Her heart was deeply rooted in her hometown of Tarvin, England, and the cherished presence of her Nanny and Granddad who resided there. Later in life, she revisited Tarvin and was warmly embraced by the townsfolk who greeted her along the street. Sandy was a lady, polite, dainty, and had an eye for pretty things and a bargain. She found joy in antiquing and using her carefully selected pieces to enhance the beauty of her home. Sandy was an excellent roller-skater, found solace in fishing for trout at Roaring River State Park, cherished moments with her dogs, and savored the music of Elvis and Bob Seger. Later in life, she developed a talent for painting. Above all, she was known for her warmth and affection as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Sandy loved taking walks along country roads, and her daughter, Patti, looks forward to joining her again someday, for one of those wonderful walks in Heaven. "Long live the Queen!"
Sandy was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her grandson, Tyler Dell, and one sister, Anita Potter. She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Patti Dell, of Hindsville; and Roxanna and Jay Noland, of Lees Summit, Missouri. She is also survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Dawn and Gus Schoenberg of St. Louis, Missouri; and a niece and a nephew.
No services are planned at this time. Cremation is entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
