Rosa Marie Johnson or better known as Rosie, was born Rosa Brown on August 31, 1924 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born to Jeff and Minerva Brown.
She grew up the middle child of three children that included older brother Tom and younger sister Elizabeth. Rosa graduated from Lincoln High School in Fort Smith, Arkansas in 1942. Rosa then went on to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant dedicating 23 years of service at St. Edwards Mercy Medical Center in the Pediatric Unit, where she eventually retired. Rosa accepted Christ into her life at a young age and was a longtime member of First Missionary Baptist Church-Kelly Hwy. Rosa was first and foremost a loving and devoted mother to her four children: Thomas, Willa, Terri, and Jackie. In addition, she also raised two of her grandchildren Aletha and Anthony.
On March 16, 2016, Rosa passed away peacefully at the age of 91 after a long life filled with love and laughter. She was predeceased by her mother Minerva Judkins Brown, father Jeff Brown, older brother Thomas Brown, younger sister Elizabeth Collins, grandson David Griswold, & youngest daughter Terri Armstead,
She is survived by her 2 sons, Thomas (Josie) of Mt. Pine, Arkansas; Jackie of Fort Smith, Arkansas; 1 daughter, Willa Rose of Fort Smith Arkansas and devoted niece June Rimmer (James) Seattle, WA. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Homegoing Service will be 11:00 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2016 at Lewis-Roberts Funeral Chapel 4817 Kelley Hwy Fort Smith, Arkansas with Interment to follow at Washington Cemetery in Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Omar Lincoln, Kemal Lincoln, Stefan Johnson, Anthony Johnson Jr., Aaron Johnson and Christopher Johnson.
