*Aden Furmanik Obituary

YARMOUTH -- Aden Bennett Henderson Furmanik died on Nov. 22, 2011, at Brentwood Manor in Yarmouth, after a long period of failing health.
She was born in Hartford, Conn., on June 10, 1949, to H. Arwood and Doris Whitehouse Henderson. She attended West Hartford schools graduating in 1967 and attended Elmhurst College near Evanston, Ill., on an art scholarship. She later enrolled in the theater arts program at Miami Dade Junior College in Florida and subsequently attended classes at University of Maine, Augusta.
Aden married Mahlon Fred McLean in 1970 and they had one daughter, Shon'.
Aden resided in Augusta area for many years and was employed as a courier for a Boston medical laboratory service. Later she assisted several businesses with setting up their computer systems using her mastery of complex technical skills. Due to declining health, she turned her attention from the workaday world to home-based activities to become an enthusiastic and skillful gardener and talented photographer.
Aden was a seeker in life - often looking past the present time to watch and wait for the next event or horizon. Her physical frailty often hindered pursuit of her goals. She was a voracious reader whose library complemented her sense of adventure and explored many diverse themes. Throughout her life, Aden took pleasure in playing her Martin guitar and roaming her favorite outdoor places in Maine and New Brunswick.
In May of 1999, Aden married Bartholomew Furmanik. They resided in Benton until the time of her hospitalization early this year.
Aden was predeceased by her parents, Arwood and Doris Henderson, late of Newcastle. She is survived by her husband, Bart of Benton; her daughter, Shon' Henderson McGirr, her husband Jimmy, and their daughter, Evelyn Ann McGirr all of Portland; her sister, Mary 'Penny' Askew of Staunton, Va.; cousin Kathryn Henderson of Ashland, Ore., cousin Clark Henderson, of New York, N.Y., and his wife Isabel, cousin Patricia Donnell of Morrilton, Ark.; and her step-mother Charlotte Henderson of Washington.
Private funeral arrangements are made with A.T. Hutchins, Independent Death Care of Maine, for whose sensitivity and competence the family is grateful. To offer words of condolence, sign a guest book and share memories, go to the obituary page at www.independentdeathcare.com.
