Mrs. Claudia Irene Moore Wilkerson, 84, of Altoona, Alabama died Wednesday, June 15 at the Altoona Health Care Center after a battle with cancer. She was a native of Jones, Louisiana; a resident of Altoona, Alabama for the past 11 years and a former resident of Crossett for 14 years and Freemont, California for many years. She was an inspector at a box factory in California and a member of the South Crossett Missionary Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Ray D. "Dub" Wilkerson; a daughter-in-law, Debi Wilkerson; her parents, William and Myrtis Snell Moore; six sisters, Estelle Adams, Willie Mae Reynolds, Lena Wood, Elizabeth Sapp, Ozell Carruth and Opal Barton; her mother and father-in-law, Roddy and Lela Wilkerson.

She is survived by a daughter, Raye Dale Jones and husband, Darrell, of Altoona, Alabama; three sons, Don Wilkerson and wife, Beverly, of Freemont, California, Dan Wilkerson of Discovery Bay, California and Rick Wilkerson of Louisiana; eight grandchildren, Jamei Goodwin and husband, Bobby, Jodei Lancaster and fiancAC., Matt Johnson, Justin Jones and wife, Jennifer, Trevor Wilkerson and wife, Stephanie, Aubrey Wulf and husband, Adam, Leslie Smiley and husband, Rob, Marley Emery and wife, Shea, and Whitney Bowden and husband, Paul; 17 great-grandchildren, Matthew and Skyler Tinsley, Emma Raye Lancaster, Dylan, Dalton and Dustin Goodwin, Morgan, Cody and Austin Jones, Shannon Wilkerson, Camdin Wulf, Brooklyn and Renner Smiley, Bella Mayce and Dallas Emery, Hayley and Trent Bowden.

Funeral services are 2 p.m., Sunday, June 19, 2011 in the chapel of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home with Rev. Tim McDaniel officiating. Burial will be in the Hamburg Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her great-grandsons.

The family wishes to thank Linda Bigelow and the staff at Altoona Healthcare for their love and devotion to our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Dr Sahawreh for his wonderful care and the staff of Wiregrass Hospice. Words cannot express how much each of you means to us.
