Mrs. Bonnie Lea Wyman Watkins Hendrix, 80, of Hamburg went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, January 16, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. Hendrix was born in the Milo Community outside of Hamburg on November 22, 1932. She was a resident of Hamburg for many years and a former resident of Eudora and Washington, D.C. She attended school at Fountain Hill, Eudora, Hamburg and the University of Arkansas at Monticello. She worked for the F.B.I. in Washington D.C. and the Ashley County Abstract Company in Hamburg. She was the bookkeeper and partner of the family owned Watkins Water Well Drilling Company for 15 years and she was a self employed dog groomer for 16 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, Billy Mark Watkins in1976 and Willard Hendrix in 1999; her parents Lee A. & Floice White Wyman, her step-father, Marcus Watkins and three sisters, Frankie Craig, Dorothy Douglas and Inez Craven.

She is survived by three sons, Mark Lee Watkins, Richard Watkins and wife, Dwanna, all of Lake Norrell, Arkansas and James (Jim) Dennis Watkins of Birmingham, Alabama; a sister, Doris Wyman Carpenter of Prescott, Arizona; a grandson, Aaron Marcus Watkins of Lake Norrell; two granddaughters, Tonya Lea Rogers and husband, Dennis, of Springdale and Kayli Richelle Watkins of Little Rock; four great-grandchildren; a very close friend, Elray Wallis and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many close friends.

Funeral services are 10 a.m., Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Pennington officiating. Burial will be in the Hamburg Cemetery. Pallbearers are Ben White, Roddy Goodwin, Rick Eastridge, Shawn Higginbotham, Michael Stanley, Charles Summerland, Page Atkins and John Wooten. Honorary pallbearers are Gordon Hennington, John Henry Maxwell, J.D. Higginbotham, members of the Rook Club and members of the Liverpool Rummy Card Group. Memorials may be made to Ashley County Cares, PO Box 366, Hamburg, AR 71646.
