Carroll
September 18, 1933 - April 26, 2021
William Carroll West, Jr., 87, formerly of Fort Smith, stepped into heaven to meet the love of his life, Donna on Monday April 26, 2021.
Carroll gave up his life to be with God at Regency Hospital in Springdale, AR.
He was born on September 18, 1933 in a community known as Rose Creek atop Petit Jean Mountain in Arkansas to William Carroll and Dorothy (Robinson) West.
Carroll and Donna moved to Little Rock with $85.00 to begin a life journey of 66 years. Carroll loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing with friends in his Ranger Boat and RV's across America. Carroll was a District Sales Manager for Acme Brick for 44 years receiving the President's Award making him #1 in Sales and service over 35 Acme Brick locations. Upon retirement in 1995, Carroll received The Proclamation of Honor at Hardscrabble Country Club, Wednesday January 10, 1996 by C Ray Baker, Mayor, naming this day, Carroll West Day. Carroll was longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Fort Smith serving his community and church for 50 years. Carroll was blessed to travel internationally. To Carroll, putting God first followed by family was the key to life success. On their 60th wedding anniversary, Carroll planned a trip with their children and spouses to cruise Alaska, which Carroll felt was blessed by God. Carroll felt the legacy of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were his greatest gifts. He was an avid Razorback fan and he loved Destin Florida.
Funeral service is 10:00AM, Saturday, May 1, 2021 at First United Methodist Church with burial one hour prior to the service at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith. The service will be live-streamed on Facebook and YouTube at "Fort Smith First United Methodist Church".
He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Hansen and her husband Tom of Fayetteville, AR; two sons, Stephen West and his wife Debbie of Fayetteville, AR and John West and his wife Carolyn of Springfield, MO; two sisters, Lucille Reed of Cincinnati, OH and Inez Whitehead of North Little Rock, AR; four grandchildren, Rev. Bryce Hansen and his wife Keather of Hesston, KS, Lauren Shelley and her husband James of Fayetteville, AR, Dr. Spencer Hansen and his wife Libby of Mission, KS , Justin West and his wife Ashley of Kilgore TX ; six great grandchildren, Jude and Ezra Hansen, , Kennedy Faye Shelley, Matilda Hansen , Breanna and Brayden West.
Pallbearers are Dean Mangum, Tommy Scott, Tom Hansen, Spencer Hansen, Willie Wikman and Bill Williams.
Donna
October 10, 1932 - December 12, 2017
Donna Faye West, 85, of Fayetteville Arkansas passed into Heaven on December 12, 2017.
She was born October 10, 1932 in Casa, AR to the late Otto and Gladys (Reid) Jayne’s.
Donna attended Casa High School where she met the love of her life, Carroll West Jr. of Rose Creek Community. Donna and Carroll moved to Little Rock, AR then to Fort Smith, AR beginning a life long journey of 66 years. Donna was a stay at home mother which was her choice of careers and her passion. Donna loved to travel with Carroll. They were blessed to travel internationally. On their 60th wedding anniversary they planned a trip with their children and spouses to cruise Alaska, which Donna said was her ultimate gift, to be with her family.
Donna was a long time member of First United Methodist Church in Ft Smith, AR. She was on the Welcoming Committee for the church and visited seniors in Assisted Livings and Long Term Care facilities.
The Celebration of life Service will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Roebuck Chapel at First United Methodist Church in Fort Smith Arkansas under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith, Arkansas. Burial is 10:00AM, Tuesday in Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith. Burial will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday December 19, 2017 in Roselawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers are James Shelley, Rev. Bryce Hansen, Dr. Spencer Hansen, Jody Eldridge, Dean Mangum and Bill Williams. Honorary pallbearers are the Chapel Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her husband Carroll West, Jr. of Fort Smith, AR; two sons, Steve West and his wife Deb of Fayetteville, AR and John West and his wife Carolyn of Springfield, MO; one daughter, Cynthia Hansen and her husband Tom of Fayetteville, AR; four grandchildren, Justin West and his wife Ashley, Rev. Bryce Hansen and his wife Keather, Lauren Shelley and her husband James and Dr. Spencer Hansen and his wife Libby; four great grandchildren, Beanna and Brayden West, Judah Hansen and soon to by Kennedy Faye Shelley; and a sister, Marilyn Eldridge and her husband Glen of Maumelle, AR.
