ROGERS — Joshua Dewey "J.D." West, 95, passed away on April 3, 2015 in Rogers. He was born on April 16, 1919 in the Greenwood Community of Altus, Ark. to the late George D. and Linnie (Harger) West. He was the loving husband of the late Mary Elizabeth (Nelson) West.

J.D. served in the U.S Air Corp during WWII, serving in Europe for 2 1/2 years.

He worked at Charlesworth Pontiac for 20 years and raised chickens and turkeys until age 70. He was a farmer at heart.

J.D. was a member of the Church of the Nazarene since age 6, where he was responsible for the building of the West Wing of the church.

The Southern Nazarene University, in Bethany, Okla., dedicated their new Science Center to J.D. and his wife, Mary, for their devotion to education and the church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; son, Nelson Dewey West; brothers, John R. West, Mack West, Jack W. West, and Donald R. West; sisters, Mary Alice (infant), Betty Williamson, and Evelyn Tullis.

He is survived by his daughter, Priscilla Lynn West-Rudd and her husband, Dr. Charles W. Rudd, Sr.; brother, Jimmy West of Utah; sister, Judy Kukendall of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister-in-law, Monika West of Springdale; grandchildren, Charles W. Rudd, Jr. of Houston, Texas, Stephnei Berry (David) of Bentonville, Melissa Masterson (Bobby) of Noble, Okla., Jamei Hopper (Clint) of Rogers; great-grandchildren, Kristopher Harper, Ashley Berry, Taylor Masterson, Hailey Masterson, Payten Rudd, William Hopper, Hanna Hopper and Hailey Hopper; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial remembrances may be made to Rogers First Church of the Nazarene, 4911 W. Pleasant Grove Rd, Rogers, AR, 72758, or to Southern Nazarene University, 6729 NW 39th Expy, Bethany, OK, 73008.

Visitation will be on Thursday, April 9, 2015 from 5 until 8 p.m. in Rollins Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral will be in Rogers First Church of the Nazarene, Friday, April 10, 2015 at 11 a.m. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Benton County Memorial Park.
