HICKORY CREEK — Beverly "Pete" Pederson died Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at her home in the Hickory Creek area of Northwest Arkansas. She was born in Okemah, Okla., to Everett James Buck and Thelma Gene Barr. She had a very successful career in the 20-plus years at SWBT/AT&T, both in Oklahoma City and St. Louis. She retired from a management position in 1986, moving to Arkansas.
She is survived by her daughter, Toni Krepps, and grandson, John, both of Hot Springs Village, Ark., and her closest and dearest friend and companion, "Chris" Christoffel, of Northwest Arkansas.
The family asks that any memorial go to groups she supported. Pete was active in and a strong supporter of the following groups: The Humane Society or any non-kill shelter who actively supports spay/neuter programs, Women's Project in Little Rock, NOW, PFLAG, Arkansas Lady 'Backs volleyball and basketball, and AIDS programs. She would also appreciate donations made for research in heart health and Alzheimer's.
In her younger days she loved water skiing, camping, hiking the Grand Canyon and taking respite in the Apostle Islands. She was an avid reader and, lately, a great fan of opera music. "Pete" loved gardening and breathtaking flower beds were proof! She also adored her cats and dogs, who will miss her, too. Beards Funeral Chapel and Crematory handled the cremation arrangements.
