Sue Steelman, 81, passed away April 17, 2013.
She was born May 7, 1931 in Pawhuska, OK to Roscoe and Irene (Dempsey) York.

Sue was a Deputy Sheriff for Sebastian County and served as Administrative Assistant for Sheriff Bill Cauthron, Sheriff Bill Knox, and Sheriff Frank Atkinson before her retirement. She was one of the original participants in the Red Stocking Revue, was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, and she volunteered as a seamstress for the Fort Smith Little Theatre. Sue also served on the Fort Smith Parks and Recreation Committee that was instrumental in the refurbishing of Creekmore swimming pool.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Steelman.

She is survived by one daughter, Susan Harper of Pearland, TX; one son, William "Bill" Steelman and his wife Sherri, of Fort Smith; three sisters, Mary Burgess, Glady Platner, and Kathy York, all of Oklahoma; one brother, John York of Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Angie Wear Hetherington and her husband Jason, of Frisco, TX, Lucas Harper of Pearland, TX, and Bailey Steelman of Denver, CO; two great-grandchildren, Kate and Anna Hetherington of Frisco, TX.

Graveside service will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Friday, April 19, 2013, from 4:30 PM – 7:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be employees of the Sebastian County Sheriff's Department.
