July 30, 1925 - June 16, 2017
William H. "Bill" Shope 91 of Gore, OK, passed away Friday June 16, 2017 in Gore, OK.
He was born July 30, 1923 Kenton, OK to the late Theotis John Shope and Gertrude Udell Shrik Shope.
He was a Crew Chief for 35 years for American Airlines. He was a member of Gore United Methodist Church where he was involved in numerous projects and ministries throughout the church, member of VFW Post 4609 in Webbers Falls, OK, member of the Bedouin Temple in Muskogee, OK, member of the Rural Fire Protection District #1 where is he was still active at 80 years old and a member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. He was an Army veteran of World War II where served with the 9207th Technical Service Unit Transportation Corps.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 ½ years Doris Virginia Shope.
Funeral service will be 10:00 am Monday, June 19, 2017, at Gore United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Buttram and Rev. Marcia Martin officiating. Graveside service will be 12:30 PM Monday at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith, AR. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.
He is survived by one daughter Delora Moore of Gore, OK, two sons Jerry Shope and wife Shirlene of Tulsa, OK, Matt Shope & wife Jan of Rockport TX, seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and thirteen Great Great Grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Greg Towe, Dustin Towe, Shawn Porter, Robert Campbell, Jerry Wayne Shop and Tim Mautino.

Funeral services for Doris Virginia Shope, 85, of Gore will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 8, 2013, at Gore United Methodist Church with the Rev. Craig Clark and the Rev. Bill Buttram officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2013, at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith, Ark., under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith. Mrs. Shope was born on Jan. 15, 1928, in Branch, Ark., to Matt and Reba "Mamma" Samuels. She died on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, in Fort Smith. She was a retired supervisor for Food Management Consultant and a 26-year member of Gore United Methodist Church, a 50 year member of the Claremore Order of the Eastern Star and of the Red Hats of Gore. Survivors include her husband of 68 and-a half-years, William "Bill" Shope; one daughter, Delora Moore of Gore; two sons, Jerry Shope and wife, Shirlene of Tulsa and Matt Shope and wife, Jan of Everett, Wash.; 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Greg Towe, Dustin Towe, Larry Shope, Shawn Porter, Will Shope and Robert Campbell.
