ROGERS — Dixie Almeda Travis passed away at home Saturday, February 28, 2015, in Rogers, Arkansas. She was born in Manila Arkansas, to Lark and Bessie Shasteen. After marrying the love of her life, Ron Travis, they moved to California and raised two children then returned to Arkansas in 1981. Dixie was a loving compassionate woman. Her greatest love was the love for her family and was deeply loved by all.

She was a devoted razorback fan, enjoyed her bowling leagues, cruises, traveling, and dominoes with her dear friends. Dixie was a business owner, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, great-aunt and cousin. She lovingly embraced them all. She was the driving force of our family memories. Once diagnosed with ovarian cancer seven years ago, Dixie never gave up. She never complained and maintained a strength, grace, and positive outlook of an optimistic future. Her strong family values and her love for the Lord will continue to be an inspiration to all who were blessed to know her. She was a very strong Christian and was very excited to meet her loved ones in heaven.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Ron Travis, her grandson, Dustin Ray Travis Plummer, her parents; her sisters, Imodel Johnston and Lou Ann Samples; her brother, John Shasteen. Dixie is survived by her daughter, Tina Magnuson and husband Mark of Garfield, Arkansas, son, Doug Travis of Rogers, grandson, Cody Magnuson and wife Stephanie of Rogers, granddaughter, Megan Magnuson of Fayetteville, her great-grandchildren, Beckett Travis Magnuson, Isabella Josephine Magnuson of Rogers, her sister, Lark June Fleeman and husband Paul of Manila, Arkansas, fond nieces and nephews, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews, many friends and her faithful dog Muffy.

Visitation 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Lowell, Arkansas. A celebration of her life will be Saturday March 7, 2015 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Lowell, Arkansas. Brother Ben Rowell officiating. Interment in the Benton County Memorial Park Cemetery.
