Mrs. Mildred Gourley, 85, of Bastrop, LA, died Tuesday, June 22, 1999, at the Summerlin Lane nursing home in Bastrop. A native of Ashley County, she had lived in Bastrop for 31 years and was a former resident of Parkdale. A homemaker and member of White Avenue Baptist Church in Bastrop, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Gourley, Sr., in 1974; an infant daughter; her parents, E. D. and Annie Gill Yates; three sisters, Ruby Edwards, Margie Barbour and Elizabeth Hall; and a brother, Robert Yates. Survivors include a son, Clifton Gourley, Jr., of Bastrop; three daughters, Betty Emrah of Louisville, KY, Donnie Horn of Eudora and Mary LeBrun and husband Rodger of Bastrop; a brother, John L. Yates of Sacramento, CA; two sisters, Sue Pierce of Bastrop and Ouida Haynes of Monroe, LA; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were at 5 p.m Thursday, June 24, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg with Revs. Harry Noble and Jimmy Herring officiating. Pallbearers were Ron LeBrun, Jimmy Horn, Dennis Johnston, Jimmy Emrah, Loren LeBrun, Leroy Turner, Jr., and Vince Emrah. Honorary pallbearers were nephews, Robert and David Blakely. Burial followed services at the Hamburg Cemetery.
