WALNUT RIDGE — Cleo Almond Stayton, 68, of Walnut Ridge passed away Thursday, Sept. 16.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Stayton of the home; children, Marty and wife Sandy Fry of Tuckerman, Scott and wife Vickie Stayton of Damascus, Paula Ginnett of Springdale and Elizabeth and husband Chad Carpenter of Mount Morris, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; and nine brothers and sisters.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Bryan Chapel.

Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery near Walcott under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home of Hoxie.

Lois Bernice Root, 82 of Bradford, died September 27, 2023, at her daughter’s home in Driftwood, Texas.

Born April 9, 1941, in Walnut Ridge; daughter of the late, Jessie and Audra Myatt Fry. Lois was a homemaker and an ordain minister. She helped her 1st husband work in his machine shop, and she enjoyed gardening, singing, fishing, and animals. She had a strong faith, loved the gospel, and was a member of the Bald Knob United Pentecostal Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her 1st husband, Mr. Cleo Stayton in 2010; her 2nd husband, Mr. Mirlan Root in 2022; five siblings; and a granddaughter, Emmalee Stevens.

Survivors include her two sons, Marty Fry of Bradford, and Scotty (Vickie) Stayton of Goshen; two daughters, Paula (Scott) Kash of Cincinnati, OH, and Elizabeth (Anthony) Zamberlan, of Driftwood, TX; eight grandchildren, Marcus (Hope) Fry, Kenny (Joy) Fry, Candice Stayton, Robert and Jeremy Riedel, Madison (Jake) Dean, Noah and Audra Carpenter; six great grandchildren; two sisters, Carolyn (Donnie) Bobo, and Katie (Dewell) Tillman; one brother, Junior (Geneva) Waldrupe; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be Monday, October 2, 2023, at 10:30 A.M. in the Bryan Chapel with Rev. James Warbington officiating. Pallbearers will be Anthony Zamberlan, Scott Kash, Noah Carpenter, Randall, Marcus, and Kenny Fry. Honorary Pallbearers are her great grandchildren. Interment will follow in the Mount Zion Cemetery near Walcott.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2 P.M. till 5 P.M. in the Bryan Chapel in Hoxie.
