Wife of Frederick H "Fred" Ladage
Felicitas Sophia Sandfort Ladage passed away Tuesday, December 13 at the age of 101 in Henderson, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Frederick Ladage; her parents Emil and Emmalene Sandfort; and granddaughter Jennifer Ann Ladage.
Felicitas was born on July 10, 1910 in St Charles, Missouri.
In 1917 her family moved to Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Following graduation from Ft. Smith High School in 1926 she attended the University of Arkansas. While at the University she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority.
She was a member of the First Lutheran Church where she taught kindergarten and Sunday School; was a member of Martha Circle; quilted with church friends; and was church secretary for 10 years.
Felicitas and her daughter Sallie were world travellers.
She was an avid bridge club member (playing with the same ladies for over 69 years).
Felicitas was an active member of PEO, Chapter AS.
She was a golfer at Hardscrabble Country Club until the age of 85.
Ballroom Dancing was enjoyed by her and her husband as founding members of the Dervish Club.
Fred and Felicitas had two children, Sallie Ladage of Ft. Smith and Dr. Sanford Ladage and wife Toinette of Henderson, Texas. They shared two grandchildren, Rebekah and husband Tyler Lewis of the Woodlands, Texas and David and wife Mary of Denton, Texas. Also very important in her life were great granddaughter Sophia Antoinette Lewis and a special niece Leann Delaney of Germantown, Wisconsin.
Mayor Ray Baker proclaimed July 10, 2010 Felicitas Ladage Day on her 100th birthday.
She was a lover of life, roses, trees, clouds, and animals; and much loved by family and many friends.
A Celebration of Life Service for Felicitas will be held on Monday, December 19, 2011, at 2:00 pm at First Lutheran Church.
The family will visit with friends from 3:00 PM to 5:00 pm on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Edwards Funeral Home .
Private burial will precede the service.
