Samuel Dewey Stover, 89, of Denning, Arkansas, died Thursday, December 19, 2019 in Ozark. He was a Coal Miner, a farmer, and a Korean War Veteran of the United States Army and recipient of the Bronze Star medal. He was born December 22, 1929 in Altus, Arkansas to John Henry and Glen Smith Stover. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Lou Higgins Stover; a son, David Mainard; two daughters, Glenda Brown and Victoria Stover; a grandson, Michael Mainard; a great grandson, Caleb Winborn; four sisters, Virginia Dorney, Martha Tillery, Lorene McClain, and Nancy Smith; five brothers, J.B., William, Gary, Leo, and Johnny Stover.
He is survived by two sisters, Frances Tollison of Clarksville and Juanita Walker of Ozark; four daughters, Eva Wood of Alix, Lori McIlroy of Cass, Sammie Skaggs, and Kylie Stover of Fort Smith; three sons, Dewey Stover of Ozark, Justin Stover of Denning, and Michael Stover of Cass; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and many, many nieces and nephews which he loved dearly.
Family will visit from 2:00 until 4:00 PM Sunday, December 22nd at Shaffer Funeral Home, 2315 West Commercial Street in Ozark.
Graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, December 23, 2019 at Houston Cemetery with Brother Troy Vaughn officiating under direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Hopkins, Calvin Stover, Derek Brown, Michael Shawn Mainard, Seth Mainard, Jim Reeves, and Chase Chancey.
