Wife of Bill R. Rogers
May 3, 1933 - May 4, 2020
Betty Jo Rogers passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on May 4, 2020. She was born on May 3rd, 1933 in Calhoun, AR to Theo and Opal Hennessy. Betty graduated from Magnolia High School where she met Big Bill. During her high school years, Betty was a high school all American basketball player and received the honor of being selected to the All-American Basketball Team. Betty and Bill married and built an exciting life together. Betty had many hobbies - she loved reading and was involved with friends of the library, hiking, road trips with her childhood best friend Peggy as well as traveling with friends. Loved history, Indian artifacts, exploring cemeteries and spending time with family at Razorback games.
Betty was a member of First United Methodist Church, Arkansas and above all, she had a passion for her church. She loved her church family and dearly missed them during the last couple of months.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Rogers; and her parents, Theo and Opal Hennessy.
Survivors include her children, Ann White; Ronny Rogers and wife, Donna; Bill Rogers, Jr. and wife Laura all of Texarkana, AR; Judy Rogers Payne and husband, Mike of Bella Vista, AR, Linda Rogers and Marilyn Joiner both of Texarkana, AR; Suzanne Irby Hicks of Sugarland, TX. She was blessed with grandchildren: Leigh Ann, David, John Michael, Drew, Jordan, Courtnee and Buck; several step-grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Graveside service will be11 :00 A.M. Friday, May 8, 2020 at Antioch East Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jaimie Alexander officiating.
Open come and go visitation is Thursday from 11:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. at East Funeral Home-Downtown.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Texarkana, AR.
