September 15, 1907 - November 25, 1967
Mrs. Rachel Benson Bessie, 60, of Norphlet, was killed Saturday when struck by a train as she walked along a railroad track near Norphlet. The daughter of Nell Newton and Ebb Benson, Mrs. Bessie was born at Hampton, Sept. 15, 1907. She had lived in the Norphlet area for the past 45 years and was a member of the First Methodist Church of Norphlet. She is survived by her husband, Joe Bessie; her mother of Hampton; two brothers, Nolan Benson and Daniel Benson, both of Hampton; and a sister, Mrs. Ruby Drummond, Cullendale. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Norphlet Methodist Church with Rev. James Ford officiating. Burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery by Young's. (El Dorado Times - November 27, 1967)
