Mrs. Evelyn Beatrice "Bea" Preiss, 82, of Victoria, Texas died Friday, April 13, 2007. Mrs. Preiss was born July 6, 1924 in Hamburg, Arkansas and she graduated from Lepanto High School in 1942 and the Baptist Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Memphis, Tennessee in 1945. She began her nursing career and family in Arkansas. She was a well-known and highly respected Registered Nurse whose career of service in the Texas Medical community spanned four decades. She was a member of the Baptist Temple Church in Victoria. She was preceded in death by her parents; Austin Veatrice and Bessie Lillian Mason Wasson; two brothers, Bobby Wasson and James Coleman Wasson and a sister, Nora Louise Wasson Kennett. She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Wolf Gibbs of Fredericksburg, Virginia; two sons, Phillip Wolf of Alpharetta, Georgia and Robert Preiss of Arlington, Virginia; four grandchildren, Beth Gibbs Raines, Jill Gibbs Chittum, Austin Phillip Wolf and David Nathan Preiss; and five great grandchildren, Danielle Stevens, Jacob, Tierney and Sydney Chittum and Jeremy Raines. Graveside services are 12:30 pm Thursday, April 19, 2007 in the Hamburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a newly established "Bea Preiss Nursing Scholarship Fund", Victoria College Foundation, 2200 E. Red River, Victoria, Texas 77901. www.victoriacollege.edu.
