Obituary
Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home
Hamburg, Arkansas

Kim Sue Hairston, 63, of Crossett, went to be with Jesus on Sunday,
August 2, 2020, after a lengthy illness. Kim was born in Crossett
on September 16, 1956. She attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana and worked as a secretary at various businesses, including her father’s, until she chose to become a full-time mother. Kim married in September of 1983 and lost her first love, Mike, to a fatal car accident in January of 1984. She later married Bill Meade, with whom she built a life and had four beautiful children. Of all the things in her world, Kim treasured her three daughters, Michal, Maggie, and Molly, and son, Jake, the most. They were her pride and joy, and she loved them fiercely. Kim always had a heart for animals, which was evident in the multitude of pets that found their way home to “the farm” in West Monroe, Louisiana, where Bill and Kim raised their family for several years. She loved being outdoors and enjoyed working in the yard and horseback riding through the pasture around their pond. In 2009, Kim rededicated her life to Jesus and had been a member of Freedom Ministries since then.
Kim is preceded in death by her first husband, Mike DeLancey; her
father, Kyle Hairston, her grandparents, Geoffery and Lora Hairston,
and Noel “Mutt” and Nell Owens, her brother-in-law, Bill Doss, and her
nephew, Brady Hairston.
She is survived by her daughters, Michal Hale and husband, Jimmy, of
Monroe, Louisiana, Maggie Meade of Sterlington, Louisiana, and Molly
Creel and husband, Josh, of Monroe, Louisiana; her son, Jacob “Jake”
Meade of Fort Meade, Maryland; her mother, Sue Vickers, and husband,
Bob, whom Kim loved as a father, of Crossett; two brothers, Jeff
Hairston, and wife, Terri, of Chatham, Louisiana and Lee Hairston and
wife, Cynthia, of West Monroe, Louisiana; her sister, Amy Hairston-Doss
of Athens, Georgia; the father of her children, Bill Meade of Sterlington, Louisiana and his son, Joe Meade of Whitehouse, Texas; her step mother, Linda Hairston of Monroe, Louisiana; a step-brother, Mark
Vickers, and wife, Ginger, of Hermitage; three step sisters, Kim Owen
and husband Jerry, of Plano, Texas, Stacy Bearden and husband,
David, of Redfield and Mandy White and husband, Roy, of Crossett; two
grandchildren, Judah Meade and Blake Ellen Creel, along with a number
of other family members and friends.
Graveside services are 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 4, 2020, in
the Hamburg Cemetery with Rev. Maxine Witt officiating. Pallbearers are
Jeff Hairston, Lee Hairston, Jimmy Hale, Josh Creel, Jake Meade and
Mark Vickers. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Arkansas, 201
Markham Center Drive, Little Rock, AR 72205.
