Bobby Lee Caver, 78, of Ft. Smith died Friday, February 22, 2008 in the OSU Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma after a long battle with Hodgkin?s Disease. He was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Martha Lou Caver, his mother Sue Caver Voss and his father Sherman Lee Caver. Graveside service will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 25, 2008 at Roselawn Cemetery. Bobby was born November 5, 1929 in Amity, Arkansas and lived most of his life in Ft. Smith and Tulsa. He attended Fort Smith High School where he was a member of the state championship football team. After graduation in 1947, he married his high school sweetheart Martha Lou Lile and joined the Navy, serving as a petty officer during the Korean Conflict. He studied engineering at the University of Oklahoma after the service, then returned with Mart and their two sons to Ft. Smith where he was a long-time businessman, Grizzly booster, Boys Club supporter and friend to many. He also served as a Baptist deacon and Sunday school teacher, was an enthusiastic tennis, volleyball, basketball, and football player, and a singing cowboy. Bobby is survived by his two sons, Chris Caver of Springdale and Steve Caver of Ft. Smith, six grandchildren, Jordan and Tristan Caver of Dallas, Amelia and Anne Caver of Knoxville, Tennessee and Christopher and Olivia Caver of Springdale, and his ex-wife and good friend Heidi Caver of Tulsa.
