Clyne Whitten Brooks, 94, of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away at the home of his son, Gary Clyne Brooks, on Monday, November 7, 2005. Mr. Brooks was born April 14, 1911 in Fort Smith to Ambus Clyne and Dow Ruth Brooks.
Services was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Putman Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Rose lawn Cemetery under the direction of Putman Funeral Home.
He lived in Fort Smith for 87 years before moving to Norman in August 1996 to live with his son and daughter-in-law. He married Florence Garrett October 25, 1934. He worked at the Fort Smith Times Record from the early 1950s until he retired in 1976. He was a devout member of Immanuel Baptist Church for the majority of his life.
He is survived by his children; two sisters; grandchildren; great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence; parents, Ambus Clyne and Dow Ruth; a sister, Evelyn Watson; a brother, Eugene Brooks; and two sons-in-law, Oscar Meadows and Merle Butler.
