Mary Catherine Pride Brambl of Alma and formerly of Fort Smith died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008. She was born in 1921 in Texarkana, Texas, to Morgan Pride and Carrie Fitzgerald Pride.

She is survived by her son, Robert Brambl of Minneapolis; her daughter, Ann of Fort Smith; a grandson, Peter Morgan Brambl of Santa Monica, Calif.; and her sister, Christine Ramsey of Little Rock; and several nieces and nephews. Mary Pride was married in 1941 to Leo Brambl, who died in 1976.

Mary Brambl taught in the Fort Smith Public Schools for 31 years, and she is remembered by her students and colleagues as one of the most caring and concerned teachers they had known. She was a devoted teacher who also be remembered for her volunteer activities in local literacy programs and in church activities. She was a member of Phi Delta Kappa profession association in education.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15 at the Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
