Mrs. Vera Mae Nolley Barham, 93, of Greeley, Colorado, died Tuesday, February 18, 2003, at the Life Care Center in Greeley. A native of Hamburg, a resident of Greeley since 1991 and a former resident of Wilmot, she graduated from Hamburg High School, Arkansas State Teacher's College, now the University of Central Arkansas and the University of Arkansas at Monticello with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She taught the first grade in the Wilmot Public Schools for many years, and she was a member of the Retired Teacher's Association of Arkansas, the Bethel Baptist Church in Greeley and a former member of the Wilmot United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her son, Dr. Jerry Barham on February 15 of this year, her parents, James and Sallie Smith Nolley, three brothers, Roy, Guy and Fay Nolley and two sisters, Ada and Mary Lou Nolley.
She is survived by two sons, James A. (Jim) Barham of Little Rock and Jack Barham of Belle Glade Florida, one daughter, Pat Akers Pillert of Little Rock, ten grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Friday, February 21, in the JonesHartshorn Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Don Nolley officiating. Burial followed services at the Hamburg Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ron Miller, Eddie and Stevie Hammon, Dr. Dewayne Haynes, Allen Chandler and Darrell Clifton. Memorials may be made to the Hamburg High School Honors Scholarship Program, 518 South Main Street, Hamburg, Arkansas 71646.
