Son of Elmo Ward and Laura Moore Ward. He was a retired brick mason for Manhattan Construction Company, an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, member of the United Brick Masons Union, coached Lavaca Little League Baseball, served on the Lavaca School Board, taught Sunday School and was a 50 year member of the First United Methodist Church in Lavaca. He is survived by his wife, Muriel; a daughter, Carole Moore; three sons, Larry, Bruce and Dr Bob Ward; two sisters, Dorothy Been and Wanda Jones; a brother, Roger Ward; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Muriel Elizabeth Ward November 06, 1924 - May 25, 2018

Muriel Elizabeth Ward, who resided in Lavaca, Arkansas, passed away Friday, May 25, 2018, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born November 6, 1924, in Lavaca to the late Oscar Franklin Bradley and Mary Esther (Moore) Bradley. She was 93 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe L. Ward; two brothers, John Bradley and Clyde Bradley.

Muriel worked for Dixie Cup in Fort Smith for 28 years, and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lavaca.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 29th, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston, with Pastor Matt Ward officiating. Burial will be at Oak Valley Cemetery, located south of Lavaca, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

She is survived by one daughter, Carole Moore of Lavaca; three sons, Larry Ward of Greenbrier, Arkansas, Bruce Ward and wife Marlon of Hope, Arkansas and Dr. Bob Ward and wife Sue of Lavaca; (12) grandchildren, (21) great-grandchildren, and (10) great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Billy Douglas, Colin Douglas, Brad Ward, Ward Richardson, Ronnie Phelps and Jake Phelps.
