Arkansas

February 23, 1916 - May 13, 2014

Services for Ruth Green Lovelady will be held at 10:00 Saturday, September 6 at First Baptist Church in Bernice, Louisiana with Dr. Connie Ward officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery in Junction City, Arkansas under the direction of Kilpatrick's Funeral Home of Ruston.

Ruth was born February 23, 1916 in Bernice, Louisiana to George Wesley Green and Mary Ann Hammock Green. She died May 13, 2014. She is preceded in death by her parents; two husbands: Jack Lovelady and Clyde Farrar, Sr.; an infant son; three sisters: Eula Johnston, Aunean Hollis and Madge Burns; four brothers: Frank, Brodie, Leonard and John W. Green. She is survived by her daughter; Janet Lovelady of Flower Mound, Texas; two stepsons: Phillip Farrar and wife June and Clyde Farrar, Jr.; sister-in law Robbie Hart of Pineville, Louisiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Farrar taught school in several cities throughout her life: Van, Texas, Hodge, Louisiana and Monroe, Louisiana. She retired from the Monroe City Schools in 1973. Her greatest reward was in seeing children learn. She was a staunch Baptist, working in church wherever she lived, teaching in Sunday School and active in all organizations. She was a faithful member of Bernice Baptist Church and enjoyed membership in the Bernice Garden Club and Bernice Historical Society. When she was 90 she moved to Alpine Guest Care in Ruston. She then went to live with her daughter at the age of 92, where she remained until her death at the age of 98. Ruth lived a long and magnificent life and was full of vibrancy up until the time of her death.
