Lillian
December 12, 1922 - May 8, 2017
Married: October 20, 1944
Lillian Olene Jerry Mooty, of El Dorado, passed away Monday, May 8, 2017 at Hospice. After 94 years, she departed this life to begin her eternal life in Heaven.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Jesse and Gertie Hill Jerry, a sister, Fern Jerry Krohn, a brother, Robert Bernie Jerry, and her husband Charles Robert Mooty.
She is survived by a daughter, Janice Corley (Mervyn) of Norphlet. Also surviving are two sisters, Virginia Jerry Barnes of Nash, TX and Nadine Jerry Williams (Joe) of El Dorado. Surviving grandchildren are Glynis Impson (Ted) of El Dorado and Boyd Corley (Lynn) of Little Rock and great-grandchildren, Lauryn Brannon (Beau) of Springdale, AR, Leslie Mann (Patrick) of Conway, AR, Sydney Corley, Natalie Corley and Emily Corley of Little Rock. In addition, she has several nieces and nephews.
Born on December 12, 1922, Lillian grew up in the Old Union community, east of El Dorado. She was a member of Northwest Baptist Church. For many years, Lillian taught Sunday School at Caledonia Baptist Church. She was an avid student of the Bible and a mighty prayer warrior, who prayed daily for her family. Lillian and Charles were faithful church members and loved their church family.
Mrs. Mooty was a very talented lady, especially in the kitchen. She owned and operated the Party Shop bakery for 13 years. Lillian’s baked creations included delicious pies, cakes, and cookies. Many newlyweds enjoyed her 3-tier wedding cake at their wedding reception. For many years after selling the business, Mrs. Mooty enjoyed cooking for her family, for her friends, and for her church family. Along with her talent for cooking, Lillian loved to write poetry. So many of her poems expressed her love for Jesus and how she looked forward to spending eternity with her Savior.
Friends and family would have described Lillian as a person who loved her family and was the happiest when she had them with her. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lillian would beam anytime the kids came into the room. The grandchildren enjoyed “helping” her cook, whether at home or at the bakery. Mrs. Mooty enjoyed watching football with her husband. Her favorite teams were the Dallas Cowboys and the Arkansas Razorbacks. Lillian loved Jesus, loved her family and loved life.
