William Luther Barrett, Jr., 85 of El Dorado, joined Heaven’s choir right on time on Sunday morning, March 24, 2013, at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born March 20, 1928, to William L. “Buck” Barrett, Sr. and Lydia Jane “Jenny” Jackson Barrett in Jena, LA.

He earned his Civil Engineering degree from LSU and worked for 37 years at the Lion Oil Pipeline Division. He was a Member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death are his parents; son, Bobby Barrett; and four siblings, Dorcus Causey, John Barrett, Nadie Barrett, and Jane Barrett.

Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Elizabeth Mae Barrett of El Dorado; three sons, James Barrett (Denise) of El Dorado; Steve Calk (Linda) of Spearsville, LA, Ronnie Calk (Phyllis) of Shreveport, LA; his favorite daughter, Sherry Mizell (Luther) of West Monroe, LA; three siblings, David Barrett, Pearl Sapp, Enid Powell; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and one great, great grandchild.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to his caregivers, Lynn Cameron, Tracy Cogburn, Quinta Dixon, and Melinda McDaniels; and Life Touch Hospice.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Young’s.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Pelz officiating. Burial will follow at Burns Ebenezer Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

Memorials may be made to Ebenezer Baptist Church, 3408 N. Wyatt Dr., El Dorado, AR 71730.
