Herman P. Nixon 85, of Lavaca died Thursday Feb 21, 2002 in a Ft. Smith hospital. He was born Dec 26, 1916 in Lavaca. He was a member and deacon of the Lavaca United Methodist Church, a member of the Victory Masonic Lodge No. 470 in Barling and a 32 Degree Mason. He was preceded in death by one son, Gary Nixon.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. in Lavaca First United Methodist Church with Masonic graveside service to follow at Hickory Ride Cemetery east of Lavaca.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille of the home; a daughter June Yancy; a sister, Fern Little of Indianola, Miss.; four Grandchildren, Mike Nixon, Shanda Powers, Penni Nelson and Gala Brown and 10 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Kenny and Wade Nixon, Riley Brown, Steve Helms, Mike Powers and Gordon Castlin.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Friendship Sunday School class.

LAVACA — Lucille Nixon, 87, of Lavaca died Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, in Charleston. She was born May 13, 1921, in Charleston. She was a member of Lavaca United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, retired from General Electric, and the widow of Herman Nixon.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Lavaca with burial at Hickory Ridge Cemetery east of Lavaca under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
She is survived by a daughter, June Glidewell of Charleston; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
