John Oscar Freeman, who resided near Cecil, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018, in Charleston, Arkansas. He was born September 13, 1926 in Sebastian County near Lavaca to the late Audie Lee Freeman and Sally (Eubanks) Freeman. He was 91 years old. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Joyce (Vanlandingham) Freeman; two sisters, Janice Tate and Bessie Hunter; and one brother, Stanley Freeman.
John retired from Synergy Gas Company in Charleston. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and he attended Riverdale Freewill Baptist Church.
A family held memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 20th, at Riverdale Freewill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Joe Hobbs officiating the service. Burial of cremains will be at Hickory Ridge Cemetery. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
He is survived by his two daughters, Annette White and husband Mitch of Lavaca and Angel White and husband Bryan of Charleston; one sister, Mary White of Dardanelle; four grandchildren, Adam White, Cody White, Jonas White and Emily White

Emma Joyce Freeman, who resided near Cecil, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
She was born September 23, 1936 in the Vesta Community in Franklin County to the late Ulysses David Vanlandingham and Mary Ellen (Pierce) Vanlandingham. She was 77 years old.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Mabel Fields.
Joyce worked at the chicken processing plant in Bloomer. She was a member of Vesta Methodist Church in Vesta and attended Riverdale Free Will Baptist Church, located in the Arbuckle Island Community.
Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 2nd, at Riverdale Free Will Baptist Church, with Pastor Richard Shotzman officiating. Burial of cremains will be at Hickory Ridge Cemetery, located northwest of Charleston. Cremation services are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 54 years, John Freeman; two daughters, Annette White and husband Mitch and Angel White and husband Bryan, both of Lavaca; one brother, Archie Vanlandingham of Vesta; one granddaughter, Emily White and three grandsons, Adam, Cody, and Jonas White.
