Jerl L. Amos, 71, of Lavaca died Monday, June 26, 2000, in a Fort Smith hospital. He retired as an employee of the Whirlpool Corp. and was a veteran and Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient during the Korean War. He was a deacon and charter member of the First Baptist Church on Arkansas 96. Funeral was at Smith Mortuary Chapel of Charleston with burial at Hickory Ridge Cemetery, northwest of Lavaca. He is survived by his wife, Wilma; one son, Dale of Willis, Texas; one sister, Loy Louise Freeland of Fort Smith; and two nephews, Gary Hays and Michael Freeland, both of Fort Smith. SW Times Record

Wilma Keith Khilling Amos, 80 of Lavaca passed away Friday, Nov. 19, 2010 in Fort Smith. She was born April 21, 1930 in Lavaca to Lawrence H & Katie L Khilling. She was a member of 96 Highway First Baptist Church and worked many years for the Internal Revenue Service in Ft. Smith. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jeri L Amos; son Darrell L Amos; and her sister, Pauline Jones.
She is survived by one son, Dale Amos and wife Cheri of Willis, Texas.
Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at Smith Chapel in Charleston. Burial will follow at Hickory Ridge Cemetery east of Lavaca under the direction of Smith Mortuary.
