June 16, 1922 - January 10, 1969
Mrs. Gertrude D. Brown, 46, Magnolia Highway, died early Friday in a local hospital after a lengthy illness. Born in Ruston, La., June 16, 1922, she was the daughter of George and Lena Dobbs. She had been an El Dorado resident for 15 years and with her husband operated the Velvetex Grill. She was a member of Wyatt Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Robert Brown; a daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Sapp of Coca Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Lester Dobbs of Ruston and William Dobbs of Kenner, La.; and three sisters, Mrs. Nettie Culbertson, Mrs. Naomi Wright and Mrs. Annie Brooks, all of Ruston. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Rumph Mortuary at 4 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Willie LaBeff officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Tommy Brown, Bill Brown, Arnold Pyle, Elmer Brown, Charlie Amason and Glenn Brown. Honorary ones will be Dr. J. B. Wharton, Dr. J. B. Weedman and members of the Warner Brown Hospital nursing staff. (El Dorado Times - January 10, 1969
