Burdette H. Belshe, 73, of Norphlet died at his residence early Monday afternoon following a heart seizure. Mr. Belshe was born in Henley, Mo., Jan. 8, 1891, the son of Etha Durinda Bontrager and Robert Young Belshe. He was a Gulf connector, who retired in 1958 with 29 years of service. He had helped to drill the first oil well around El Dorado and had lived in the area for the past 45 years. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Baptist faith. Survivors include: his widow, Winney K. Belshe of Norphlet; four grandchildren, Mrs. Jackie Smith, Mrs. Sandra Bruce, Tommy Dudley, all of Baton Rouge, La., and Ronald Dudley of Lafayette, La.; three brothers, John Belshe, Eldor, Mo., Marke E. Belshe, Jefferson City, Mo., and Roy Belshe, Tacoma, Wash.; one sister, Allie Hale, Henley, Mo; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be announced by Young's. (The El Dorado Times - December 1, 1964)
