Mrs. Annie M. Cox, 80, of 310 W. Block St., died at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at a local hospital following a short illness. She was born June 25, 1884 in Russellville, Ala. Mrs. Cox had lived in El Dorado since 1932 and operated the Cox Grocery across the street from Rogers Junior High School for many years. Survivors include four sisters, Mrs. Florence Saunders of Roe, Ark., Mrs. Maybell Bounds of Kennett, Mo., Mrs. Geneva Scott of Clarenden and Mrs. Minnie Ramey of Melwood; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the chapel of Rumph Mortuary with the Rev. George Warren officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Henry Hogg, W. M. Meeks, Jr., John N. Davis, Theron Ware, Chester Green and Leonard Fulkerson. (The El Dorado Times - March 17, 1965)
