Claudia Elizabeth Pickering Lucas, 96, of Crossett, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2022. She was born on June 4, 1926 in El Dorado, AR to the late John Pinson Pickering and Nancy Elizabeth Goodwin Pickering.
She was a 1943 graduate of El Dorado High School. On October 7, 1945, Claudia married James Ralph Lucas. She was a member of the Crossett First Baptist Church, and retired from Daniel Chevrolet where she worked as a bookkeeper.
Claudia enjoyed decorating wedding and birthday cakes, sewing, tailoring, doing crafts and spending time in craft stores. She was a member of the church choir, played the piano and organ, and was the “Old Lady” Sunday School Class teacher.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Ralph Lucas; her sisters, Margaret Gathright, Lucy Willett, Lena Rae Purifoy, Nancy George; her brothers, Gwynn Pickering and Felix Pickering.
Survivors include her children, Michael Lynn Lucas (Nora) of Rison, AR, Laura Law (Mike) of Crossett, AR, Jim Lucas (Janel) of Cocoa, FL, Dr. Alan Lucas (Seely) of Conway, AR, Rea Lucas (Trica) of Hampton, AR; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 10 great, great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2022 Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors. Visitation will held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Young’s prior to the service.
