He graduated from Scranton High School in 1961 and then attended Harding University and Oklahoma Christian College where he studied Bible.

In 1965 he married the love of his life, Viola Layman Parks. He preached in Roosevelt, Wetumpka, and Spiro, Oklahoma before he and Viola decided to move back to the Parks farm and raise their family.

After many years as a pastor and farmer, Mac enjoyed retirement years employed with Walmart. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching baseball, and hanging out with his brother.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Viola Layman Parks; four daughters, Mittie Greening and husband Bruce of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Ona Dunlap and husband Bruce of Prairie View, Arkansas, Leah Lee and husband Shannon of Paris, Arkansas and Lydia June Reif and husband William of Green Bay, Wisconsin.
