Mrs. Mary Iva Evans, 78, of Route 6, El Dorado, died Saturday night at a local hospital following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. today at Midway Baptist Church with Rev. Floyd Taylor, Rev. Robert Gryder and Rev. Dale Floyd officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. Born January 26, 1896 at Ringgold, Tex., Mrs. Evans was the daughter of Joseph Cardwell and Martha Galent. She had been a resident of Union County the past 50 years and was a member of Midway Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Ollie Evans of El Dorado; five daughters, Mrs. Ken Foyil of Houston, Mrs. Dorothy Martisek of El Dorado, Mrs. Homer Parks of Smackover, Mrs. Roger Butcher of El Dorado and Mrs. Rubin Darden of Smackover; two sons, M. L. Evans of Amelia, Ohio and Vernon Evans of El Dorado; 23 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. (El Dorado News Times - December 2, 1974)
