James Shiers Middleton, 86, of Texas City, Tex., died Tuesday in the Missouri Pacific Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. Mr. Middleton was a former resident of El Dorado. He was born Nov. 12, 1881 in Bloomington, Ill. He began his railroad career with the Alton Railroad in 1902. He transferred to the Kansas City Terminal and then to the Missouri Pacific where he was employed from 1927 until 1960 when he retired. He was a member of the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church of El Dorado, and was a former president of the Men's Club of the church. Survivors include one son, J. R. Middleton of St. Louis; and two grandchildren, Jamie Louise Middleton and Kent Douglas Middleton, both of St. Louis. Rosary services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with the Rev. Richard Strock officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery under the direction of Young's.
