Married Hiram Taylor on February 10, 1952
Obituary
Nancy Wells Taylor, 89, of Hamburg, died Monday, January 30, 2023, at the Arbor Lake Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Farmerville, Louisiana. Mrs. Taylor was a native and resident of Hamburg for most of her life, having moved to Farmerville, Louisiana in 2019. She was a 1952 graduate of Hamburg High School and worked at Bob Drake’s and then Foote’s Drug Store. Mrs. Taylor was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking for whoever was coming over. She always wanted to make their favorite dish, including a pie, her dessert specialty. Mrs. Taylor loved Jesus, going to church, praying for people, and could quote any part of the Bible. She was a member of the Church of the Redeemer, and most recently, she attended Beulah Baptist Church in Farmerville, Louisiana. Mrs. Taylor loved her family most of all, but she also enjoyed roller skating, bike riding, butterflies, and working outside in her yard. She never complained, and many people considered her gift was the ability to encourage others. She had many friends and was often described as one of the sweetest people you would ever meet.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Hiram Riley Taylor in June 2022 and her parents, Bill and Doris Scott Wells.
She is survived by three daughters, Sharon Mashaw and husband, Blake, of Farmerville, Louisiana; Jan Stanley and husband, Bobby, of Lake Village and Carol Collins and husband, Mike, of Bryant; a brother, Billy Wells and wife, Glenda, of Kingwood, Texas; a sister, Emilie Monk of Bryant; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Taylor was dearly loved by all of the Arbor Lake Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center staff.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Saturday, February 4, 2023, in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jerry Grant officiating. A private burial will be in the Hamburg Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Church of the Redeemer, 2220 Highway 425 S., Hamburg, AR 71646, or to the Beulah Baptist Church, 585 Beulah Church Road, Farmerville, LA 71241.
Visitation will be 1:30 – 2 p.m., Saturday in the funeral home chapel.
