Annetta Wilson was born June 28, 1940, in Jonesboro, Ark. and departed this life on Feb. 1, 2015, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 74.
Annetta, the daughter of William Thomas and Byrl Losey Craig, was a resident of Rockwall, Texas. She graduated from Conway High School in Conway, Ark. in 1958 and Arkansas State Teachers College (now the University of Central Arkansas) in 1961. She completed a Master of Education degree at Northeastern State University in 1989, and a Doctorate of Philosophy in applied behavioral studies at Oklahoma State University in 1995.
Annetta taught school after graduating from college, and in 1967 became a devoted mom, staying at home full time until she returned to teaching in 1979 as a middle school math teacher in Broken Arrow, Okla. She became a middle school counselor in 1985. In 1994 and 1995, she worked with Domestic Violence Intervention Services in Tulsa, Okla., while pursuing her Ph.D. She then returned to middle school counseling and became a licensed professional counselor in the state of Oklahoma. She retired in 2001.
Annetta was a Bethel Bible teacher, a Stephen Minister, an ordained deacon and elder in the Presbyterian church and a member of Chapter H of the PEO Sisterhood in New Mexico.
Her greatest joy was spending time with friends and family, particularly her grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing tennis, golf, and bridge.
Her parents preceded her in death.
She is survived by: her husband of fifty-three years, Paul Wilson; their children and daughters-in-law, Lane and Maureen Wilson of Tulsa, Okla. and Lyle and Toni Wilson of Sunnyvale, Texas.; six grandchildren, McKenzie, Patrick, Morgan, Ryan, Anna and Ben; a sister and brother-in-law, Winifred and Lavern Penn of Heber Springs, Ark.; as well as her niece and grand-niece, Suzanne Penn and Nicole Penn of Conway.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21 at the First Presbyterian Church of Tulsa, Okla., with the Rev. James D. Miller, Ph.D. officiating.
