Alice Mae Knowles, 80, of Hamburg, died Wednesday, January 28, 2015
at St. Vincent’s Infirmary Medical Center in Little Rock. Mrs. Knowles
was a native of Humboldt, Iowa; a former resident of Fort Dodge, Iowa
and a resident of Hamburg for the past 37 years. She was a retired
waitress and cook having worked at Kent’s Truck Stop, Harvester and
Past Time Restaurants for many years. She was of the Pentecostal
faith. She was a loving mother that sacrificed for her kids and always
had a caring heart.
She is preceded in death by a son, James Robert Olsen, Jr.; two
grandchildren, Orville Ford, Jr., and Sarah Ann Ford; her parents, Myron
Porter and Bernice Reynolds Porter Beminio.
She is survived by four sons; Orville Ford and wife, Robin, of Sioux City,
Iowa; Lelan Ford and wife, Cindy, of Dakota City, Nebraska, Mike
Knowles of Hamburg and Sam Knowles and wife, Winnie, of Eaton, Ohio;
three daughters, Georgia Kellum, Kathi Green and Bernice Nelms and
husband, Ronnie, all of Hamburg; a sister, Doris Kay Brown of Vincent,
Iowa; 21 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Saturday, January 31, 2015 in the chapel of
Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home with Bro. Joey Meredith and Bro.
Michael Kelley officiating. Burial will be in the Hamburg
Cemetery. Pallbearers are Orville Ford, Sam Ford, Jesse Ford, Cody
Ford, Chris Knowles and William Jackson. Honorary pallbearers are
Clarence Kelley and Randy Tomerlin. Memorials may be made to Ashley
County Cares, PO Box 366, Hamburg, AR 71646.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
