Paulina Amezcua Self, 24, of Crossett, died Sunday, January 1, 2023, at the University of Arkansas for Medical Science in Little Rock. Paulina was a native of Monticello, a resident of Crossett for the past three years, and a former resident of Hamburg for many years. She was a 2017 graduate of Hamburg High School and a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Hamburg. Her greatest joy in life was being a mother, and took pride in being a stay-at-home mom. Paulina cherished her family and friends and would spend as much time as possible with them. She enjoyed going shopping with her friends and would never turn down a trip for iced coffee or crawfish. Paulina loved being outdoors fishing, and swimming. She was a free spirit that loved to dance, sing and was often known as “the life of the party.”

She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, who she loved dearly, Antonio and Teresa Magana, and her step-father-in-law, Robert “Bo” Howard in 2022.

Paulina is survived by her husband, Garrett Self; a daughter, Haisley Camila Self; two sons, Ian Leo Chandler and Mason Alexander Chandler; a step-son, Aiden Douglas Self, all of Crossett; her parents, Alejandro and Teresa Magana Amezcua; a sister, Alejandra Amezcua; her paternal grandparents, Ramiro Amezcua and Maria J. Navarrete, all of Hamburg; her mother-in-law, Lisa Howard; her father-in-law, Douglas Self and wife, Tina, all of Crossett; four sisters-in-law, Amanda Hall of Conway and Mallory Braswell and husband, Tommy, of Texarkana, Courtney Lynn Foreman of Fairview Heights, Illinois and Lynsy Makayla Foreman of Crossett and a host of uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Visitation will be 6 – 7 p.m. Monday, January 9, 2023 in the chapel of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home with Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Father Stephen Hart as Celebrant. Burial will be in the Flat Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers are Chystian Navarrette, Andy Magana, Brian Magana, Juan Amezcua, Junior Amezcua, River Amezcua, Richard Palmerin and Emmanuel Cervantes.
