Mr. Orvis McKee, 91, of Crossett, died Friday, July 17, 2009 at the Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett. Mr. McKee was a native of Wilmot; a resident of Crossett since 1990 and a former resident of Hamburg for many years. He was a retired farmer and he retired from the Georgia-Pacific Plywood Mill. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Monticello where he served as a Deacon. He was an avid gardener and he loved fishing and camping.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George Hurley & Merle Horn McKee; a brother, Othor McKee and a granddaughter, Cassandra McKee Tallman.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Norma Jean Jeffers McKee; two sons, Damon McKee and Dennis McKee and wife, Judy, all of Crossett; two sisters, Merle Jean Myers and Willie Tullos both of Wilmot; 5 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
Graveside services and burial will be 2 p.m., Sunday, July 19, 2009 in the Flat Creek Cemetery with Pastor Travis Walker officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Damon McKee, Jr., Chris McKee and Jamie Pierce.
