Mrs. Geneva Woods, 86, affectionately known as “Genny” or “Mu”, went home to be with the Lord on January 23, 2023. She was born in Portland, AR, but a resident of Montrose, AR for most of her life.
Mrs. Woods was a member of Brown Temple Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Woods occupations included being a Home Health Aide, Foster Grandparent for Lakeside Elementary and a homemaker. In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing, cooking, watching her favorite TV shows, completing word search puzzles and spending quality time with her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Woods was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, William “Sonnyman” Woods; daughter: Joyce “Pam” Woods; grandchildren: Courtney Woods and William O’Brian Woods; great-grandchild: Laiken Woods; parents: Armetta Washington and Isom Comer; siblings: Margaret Scott, Robert Earl Matthews and John “Bo” Matthews; a special daughter-in-law: Ella
Woods.
The legacy of Mrs. Woods will continue through her children: Emma Woods, Vernestine (Ray) Holmes, Vanessa Hoffman of Montrose, AR - Larry Woods Sr. and William Woods Jr. of Lake Village, AR - Arletha Jordan of Crossett, AR; her grandchildren: Regina Martin, Ronald (Chandra) Martin, Marcus (Keychira) Johnson, Dextral (Linda) Woods, Kenyon Woods, Santresa (Robert) Brown-Sanders, Landriel Woods, Cre-Shunda Williams, Christopher Holmes, Janeva White, Brittany Woods, Larry Woods Jr. and Janet Hoffman; siblings: Harry Polite of Monticello, AR, Sammie (Ella) Polite of Portland, AR and Isom (Margaret) Comer of Compton, CA; 35 great- grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren and numerous cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be held at 12:00 PM on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at the Brown Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Portland, AR.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 29, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the church.
Burial will follow in the Montrose Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Memorial Funeral Service of Crossett, AR.
