Joe Willis, 79, of Crossett died Thursday, November 22, 2001, at the Leisure Lodge nursing home. Born April 25, 1922, to Lemmie and Lottie Stell Ware Willis, he was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pearlie Bates Willis; a son, Michael Joe Willis; and a grandson, Patrick Morgan.
Survivors include his wife, Dois Allen Willis of Crossett; two sons, Roddy Willis of Nacogdoches, TX, and Dewayne Willis of El Dorado; one stepson, Doyle Shook; a daughter, Debra Morgan of Coushatta, LA; a brother, L. D. Willis of Warren; two sisters, Charleen Doss and Gracie Harris of Hamburg; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 24, in the Jones Funeral Home chapel in Crossett with David Newberry and Roy Craig officiating. Pallbearers were Dennis Rice, Scotty Fletcher, Willis Doss, Joey Bledsoe, John Morgan, and Jeff Willis. Honorary pallbearers were members of his Sunday School class. Burial followed services at the Flat Creek Cemetery.
