Monte S. Ford, 91, of Crossett, died Saturday, February 26, 2022, at the
Somerset Senior Living Center in Crossett. Mrs. Ford was a native of
Strong, a resident of Crossett for most of her life and she retired after
34 years as a payroll clerk with the Georgia-Pacific Corporation. Mrs.
Ford was a born-again Christian, she loved church family, and was a
charter member of the Temple Baptist Church, now Grace Christian
Fellowship. She enjoyed spending time with her Lunch Bunch Friends
and as a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, she loved to spend as much time as possible with
her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James R. Ford in 2003; her
son, Alan Ford in 2000; her daughter-in-law, Debbie Tucker Ford in
2021; her parents, Jesse and Artie Berry Shivers; a sister, Claudette
Blasengame and three brothers, Grady C. Shivers, Sr., Thomas Shivers
and Dewitt Shivers.
She is survived by her grandson, James Alan Ford and wife, Amy; her
granddaughter, Carrie Wells and Nicky Blackwood; her sister-in-law,
Maedean Shivers, all of Crossett; her pride and joy were her four great-grandchildren, Tanner Wells and wife, Katie, Sydney Wells, Ciara
Blackwood and Elizabeth Ford; three great-great-grandchildren, Korbin
Wells, Kendall Wells and Kache Wells; a host of nieces and nephews;
her very special next door neighbor, Sharon Riva; her best friend,
Shirley Cummins; two lifelong friends, Charlotte Lane and Maxine Reed
and her very, very special friend, Freddie.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at Grace
Christian Fellowship with Rev. Jeremy Mills, Buddy Dean and Rev. Lance
Nichols officiating. Burial will be in the Flat Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers are Aaron Ballard, Rev. Lance Nichols, Max Brooks, Josh Hartley, Doug Thurman and Matt Brooks. Honorary pallbearers are Gary Nichols, Colvin Shivers, Don Shivers, Robin Blasengame, Steve Riva, Carl
Arnold, Joe Parker, Charles Cruse and Aubrey Wells. In lieu of flowers,
memorials may be made to the Grace Christian Fellowship Building
Fund, 912 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, Crossett, AR 71635. The
family would like to thank the staff of Somerset Senior Living for the love and care that was shown to Mrs. Ford.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m., Wednesday at the church.
