Mrs. Claudia P. Moore, 103, of Stuarts Draft, VA, died Friday, April 2, 1999, at the Stuarts Draft Christian Home. A native of Ashley County, she had lived in Stuarts Draft since January, 1997, had lived in Amarillo, TX, for many years and had also lived in Oklahoma and Arkansas. She attended what is now the University of Arkansas-Monticello and graduated from East Central College in Ada, OK. She was an elementary school teacher in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas and a member of the First Baptist Church in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Alphonso O'Neill, in 1972 and Dee Moore in 1984, and by her parents, Augustus and Ella Powell Pierce. Survivors are a son, James A. O'Neill and wife Zoe of Arlington, TX; a daughter, Frances Lusk Baldwin and husband Claude of Staunton, VA: two brothers, Roy Pierce and wife Virgie of Edmund, OK, and Quentin Pierce of Crossett; a sister, Helen Jones of Woodlawn; a grandson, Michael O'Neill and wife Louise of Waco, TX; a great-granddaughter, Julie Anderson and husband Louis of College Station, TX; a great-grandson, James M. O'Neill of New Orleans, LA; and a great-great-grandson, Jacob Anderson of College Station. Funeral services are planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, in the Fountain Hill First Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Elton officiating. Pallbearers will be Julian Jones, Jimmy Carl Jones, Carl French, Gerald White and Bobby Allison. Honorary pallbearers were former students Sterling and Marie White, Omer and Lois White and Katie Ware. Burial will follow services at the Flat Creek Cemetery, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
