SPRINGDALE — David E. Witt, 79, of Springdale, Ark, died Aug. 8, 2016. He was born Oct. 24, 1936, the son of the late Arthur and Pearl Witt of Milwaukee, Wis. His wife Joan passed away on Nov. 3, 2009 and all of his siblings passed before him, Norman, Lillian, Roland, Arthur and Kenneth.
David married his childhood sweetheart and the love of his life, Joan, and spent a lifetime together raising three children, 50-plus foster children and sponsored exchange students from Australia and Spain. While his children were young, he was involved in the Boy Scouts of America serving as a Cub Master and Production Chairman for the Orange County Scout O'Rama in Southern California.
David was active in the Knights of Columbus serving as Grand Knight for Bella Vista Council in 9415, State Deputy for Arkansas. Under his leadership, Bella Vista was Council of the Year and as State Deputy Arkansas achieved the Circle of Honor Ring of Honor. He was Past President of Historic Rock Branch School and was instrumental in its restoration. He was a life member in the Rogers-Bentonville Elks, served on Parks & Lakes Committee as Chairman in Bella Vista and served as Vice President of the Bella Vista AARP Recycling Center.
He retired from Hugh Aircraft Company in Fullerton, Calif., in 1989 with 31 years of service. Received an AA Degree from Fullerton Community College, BA from Chapman University (Orange, California), and an MPA from California State University Fullerton.
His daughter, Judith Lee Stump and her husband, Frank Stump; son, Edward Allan Witt and his wife, Carol and his daughter, Jill Ann Witt survive him. He leaves behind six grandchildren that he loved and adored, Joshua Zehner, Arin Zehner, Nicholas Zehner, Brittany Stump, Ashlea Witt and Taylor Witt. His sister-in-law, Bernice and her husband, Marvin Palk and sister-in-law, Dorothy Stys also survive him. He leaves numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews and countless friends.
Friday, Aug. 19, 2016, at 7 p.m. a Rosary will be held at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark. Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016, a Rosary at 9:30 a.m. and a Mass of the Resurrection at 10 a.m. will be held, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1 Bernard Lane, Bella Vista, Ark. 72715.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Arkansas Knights of Columbus Charities, c/o of John R. Hertzog, 120 West Windwood Heights Lane, Cabot, Ark. 72023-8244. Online condolences may be made at www.funeralmation.com.

Joan Marie Witt, 73, of Springdale, Arkansas died Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at Circle of Life Hospice, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. During the entire illness she maintained a joyful attitude and prayed her family and friends would remember her as a caring giving loving person.
She was born August 1, 1936 the daughter of the late Edward and Florence Stys of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Two of her siblings Mickey Stys his wife Jeannie and Harold Stys passed before her.
Joan married her childhood sweetheart and the love of her life David and spent a lifetime together raising three children, fifty plus foster children and exchange students from Australia and Spain. While her children were young she was involved in the Boy Scouts of America and served as a Cub-Scout Den mother, Round Table Commissioner and served on the Production Committee for the Orange County Scout O’Rama in Southern California.
As a teenager she was a Polish Mazur Dancer in Milwaukee and after her marriage she was a dance instructor for Xavier Cougart. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, line dancing and clogging. Traveling and Cruising the Oceans and Rivers of Europe was her passion along with gambling at the nearby Indian Casinos. Later in life she was active in the Knights of Columbus and supported her husband as he served in the local council in Bella Vista and the Arkansas State Council and hopes each Council in the State achieve Star Council this Fraternal Year.
Joan was a loving caring woman, who loved to help everyone and enjoyed crocheting, sewing for her children and grandchildren, making jewelry, gardening, working jig saw puzzles and hunting for snails when she resided in Southern California. She retired from Hughes Aircraft in Fullerton, California; however, her favorite job was being a waitress.
Her husband, David; daughter Judith Lee and her husband Frank Stump, son Edward Alan Witt and his wife Carol, and her daughter Jill Ann Witt survive her. She leaves behind six grandchildren, Joshua Zehner, Arin Zehner, Nicholas Zehner, Brittany Stump, Ashlea Witt and Taylor Witt who she loved and adored. She is also survived by her sister Bernice her husband Marvin Palk and sister-in-law Dorothy Stys. She leaves numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and countless friends.
Visitation from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and Praying of the Rosary will be at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 6, 2009 and a Mass of Resurrection of Life will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at St. Bernard Catholic Church with Father John M. Connell officiating. Interment will be at a later date.
